Committees

Your Chamber depends on volunteer support to operate our events and programs.  Committees are made up of fellow chamber members who volunteer their time and efforts to make this organization stronger.  If you are interested in participating on a committee, please either contact the Committee Chair directly or any Chamber staff member.

Ambassadors/Membership

The Ambassadors Committee is your Chamber's goodwill group.  Ambassadors are the many faces of the Chamber by staffing events, welcoming new members and often visiting members throughout the year.  The Ambassadors typically meet at 8:00 a.m. the fourth Tuesday of the month at the Chamber Offices.

Annual Meeting


Tyically held in January, the Annual Meeting Committee meets to plan and prepares for the annual meeting.

 

Chamber on the Half Shell


Held the second Saturday in November, the Chamber on the Half Shell Committee plans and prepares for this fun and unique fundraiser.

 

Christmas Parade


Held the first Saturday in December, the Christmas Parade Committee start meeting in the summer to find sponsors, bands and make preparation for the parade.

 

Committee of 100


The Commitee of 100 serves as a support catalyst for the Scotland County Economic Development Corporation in stimulating economic growth by working with community partners to extend incentives beyond City and County support for potential investors for the county.

Education


The Education Committee works with the Scotland County School System to promote learning and career-readiness programs. In addition this committee partners with other volunteers to deliver leadership and mentoring programs, as well as preparing Scotland County youth for secondary education through scholarships and enrichment programs.  The Education Committee typically meets at 8:30 a.m. the first Tuesday of the month at the Chamber.

Government Affairs 

This committee is made up of chamber members who are interested in gaining an understanding of the legislative processes (local, state and federal) which have an impact on our local community. In addition the committee will review legislative issues and work to develop positions for the Chamber in regards to our advocacy for the business community.

Green

This committee goes beyond litter and beautification to focus on promoting a more green living and green business practices. A major focus of the committee is litter and the negative impact it has in Scotland County. These volunteers work to eliminate litter, educate the public about its adverse effects and promote the value of GREEN practices.  The committee typically meets at noon the first Wednesday of the month at the Chamber Offices.

Laurinburg After Five

Meets to plan and prepare for the annual Laurinburg After Five summer beach music series.

 

Leadership Scotland

Prepares and plans for the classes and session for Leadership Scotland.

 

Human Resources Management and Plant Managers 

This committee is made up of local HR representatives from member companies who discuss HR related topics such as hiring practices, benefit programs, and policies and procedures. Many of the meetings bring in an outside presenter to discuss the latest issues/trends to educate council members. The committee typically meets at noon the second Wednesday of the month at the Chamber.
